NOTICE: RE: Illegal Activities

Alexander First Nation Chief and Council hereby give notice to all community members that due to ongoing illegal activities within our Nation since issuing the October 11, 2023, NOTICE and in order to maintain the safety and security of all members, we will begin to enact the following:

Firstly, the immediate disconnection of utility services such as; electricity, natural gas, water, and other services from certain housing units located on Alexander First Nation #134, to demonstrate that the Alexander First Nation will no longer tolerate the ongoing illegal activity in these units.  Chief and Council authorize this directive on the basis of public health and safety, and as it concerns Nation property, lands, and members. We have authorized utility company technicians to attend on Alexander First Nation #134 as necessary to complete all steps related to the disconnection of the mentioned units.

Secondly, all those persons who continue to cause problems will be removed from the community. We assure members that we are working on amending BCR 2023-2024-29 issued on January 9, 2024, to include consequences and repercussions should any evicted person tries to return to our community.

As well, please be informed that there will be a follow up Community Safety Meeting on May 27, 2024, at the Community Centre at 5:00 p.m. which provides an opportunity for members to engage on the development of a strategy on community safety for the Nation.
